Biography

1998:
In the beginning, back in October 1998, Storm Of Sorrows, hailing from the northern shores of Germany, was formed by Tjark Eisfeld (g.| k.) & Fabian Schmidt (v.) to realize their ideas of modern and innovative Death Metal.

1999:
Few months later, in March 1999, the line - up was completed by Jochen H. Wiemer (b.), Jan Timm (g.) & Christoph Loerke (dr.) joining the band. From the first steps in songwriting the main intention was to create a varied mixture of aggression, melody and atmosphere. Since then the band works with passion and consequence to improve and perfect their style and to expand their technical skills on their instruments.

2000-2001:
The first, self - titled "Storm Of Sorrows" demo - CD (7 songs) saw the light of day in December 2000 soon followed by the 2nd demo - CD "No Relief" (4 songs), released in April 2001. Both outputs were recorded in the bands own rehearsal room and dominated by a variety of influences from all over the Metal area. They already allowed a short glimpse on what to expect from the band in the near future. During that period the guys also did their first live performances in smaller clubs and locations and started to spread their name in the underground.

2002:
After getting in contact with the Crew of the Rosenquarz - Studio (located in Lübeck, northern Germany) Storm of Sorrows decided to invade this place for the recordings of the "Pale Silhouette" E.P. (4 songs) in February 2002. It featured 4 songs of straight forward Melodic Death Metal with a strong scandinavian influence and lots of catchy melodies. To promote the E.P. and to improve their stage presentation they played more gigs. At this point of time the next steps in the band's history were already clear. The plan was to rehearse and write new songs for a full length debut album.

2003:
In February 2003, when enough songs had been completed, Storm Of Sorrows teamed up with the guys of the Rosenquarz - Studio again and began the recordings of their first, self - financed, full length CD "Count The Faceless". It took them 3 weeks in the studio (including mix and mastering) to get the album ready for release. It contains 9 songs with a total duration of about 40 min. and clearly shows the band's big
progress towards songwriting abilities and playing skills and furthermore marks an important step towards the development of an innovative style. Once again the material presents itself as a diversified mixture of aggression, melody & gloomy atmosphere, this time also enriched with lots of headbanging groove and driving rhythms. Also remarkable are the lead guitar work and the high variety of vocal styles. This release got
very positive reviews in the press and the band a bigger attention in the Metal scene.

2004:
"In 2004 changes concerning the line - up took place. Christoph and Fabian left the band due to problems bringing together band and studies. Though Tjark, Jan and Jochen decided to continue the work with Storm Of Sorrows and began the search for new members.

2005:
In 2005 Fabian returned to the band. Until then no drummer proved itself as the perfect replacement and so the search still continued. Meanwhile the tons of material that came up during the forced break were being worked out by all current members of Storm of Sorrows.

2006:
In the beginning of 2006 the search for a new guy behind the battery finally found an end. David Voigt joined the band. Storm of Sorrows was complete again and intensively working on new songs for the next upcoming release.

2007-2008:
When enough songs had been written Storm of Sorrows entered the Eikey Studio in Hamburg to record their next studio album, entitled "Slave To The Slaves" (10 songs, ca. 45 min.) with producer Eike Freese (Dark Age). He did a really great job (!) and the album turned out to be a crushing, yet melodic & atmospheric, (Melodic) Death Metal bastard. The artwork was made by Fabian Schmidt (source pulse media) and clearly
embodies the lyrical concept of the album, "the toxication of human existence in all of its forms".
